But I'll be posting some concert reviews from the past year very soon, as well as some other things to keep this blog going over the summer. So please check back in soon! Anyway, take care, and hope you have a great summer!

Delayed weekly entry -- Oops!

Sorry about the delay in putting this up! I've been meaning to do it for a while, but kept getting distracted. Such is the life of a college student. ;-)

Before I continue with the usual playlist and iMix, I would like to tell you all that I've been told that I couldn't be heard while doing today's broadcast. Instead of hearing my voice, all that seemed to be transmitted was dead air. Firstly, I would like to know if anyone else experienced the same problem. This most likely happened because we are currently operating temporarily out of the special productions room in the WRMC studios, as the soundboard in the main DJ booth was fried after last Sunday's campus-wide power outage and parts need to be shipped from England. This means trying to get used to new equipment very quickly. I firmly believe I was doing everything correctly on my end, but I'm told the situation will be checked out, and I will try my best not to let this happen again.

OK! On to the playlist!

1. Apparat - Useless Information
2. Portishead - Machine Gun
3. Add N to (X) - Metal Fingers In My Body
4. A.M. Architect - Unspoken
5. 65daysofstatic - Await Rescue
6. Slint - Good Morning, Captain
7. The Field - Over the Ice
8. Theory of Everything - Taking It Back to Edo
9. Can - Moonshake
10. Four Tet - Unspoken
11. Slowdive - Souvlaki Space Station
12. Bark Psychosis - A Street Scene
13. Disco Inferno - Emigre
14. Ui - Sunny Nights
15. Jesu - Conqueror
16. From Monument to Masses - To Z (Repeat)

I was also responsible for the music for the first 45 minutes after the show. I basically played Cul de Sac's magnificent 2003 album, Death of the Sun, in its entirety, followed by "23" by Blonde Redhead. This was because there were some issues with one of the DJs showing up for the show following mine, and I didn't want to leave the station broadcasting dead air.

Instead addition to asking people what songs they liked this week in the poll on the right, I'll also be asking whether or not you feel there is enough variety in the show. Lately I feel like I've been playing songs by the same artists and from the same albums, and I don't know if you listeners out there don't mind, or would like to see me shake things up once in a while. There's a whole world of this kind of music out there, and I hate to be closing people off from most of it because I play the same things. Please tell me what you think! Also, feel free to e-mail me (jhexter@middlebury.edu) or drop a comment here.

Finally, here's the iMix! Hope you enjoyed today's show; see you next week!

And here' the iMix. You may notice some songs on here that I didn't play; I tend to plan these playlists out beforehand, but I decided to make some last minute adjustments. Anyway, hope you enjoy it!

I'd also like to plug a friend of mine's show. Nick Bujalski is starting a show called "Nihilists With Good Intentions," every Sunday morning from 6-8 AM only on WRMC! Be sure to listen in, even though it's way too early! And Jared Pomerance, who DJ'ed last semester for "Mildly Interesting," is now the new DJ of his own show, "Rooster Rock," which airs Thursday nights/Friday morning from 1:30-3 AM -- check that out as well, please! Anyway, take care, and have a good week, and a great Winter Carnival!

12 hours and counting...

...before the first show of the semester! Are you excited? 'Cuz I am!!

(By the way, how was that lunar eclipse tonight, huh? It definitely was something, that's for sure. Did anyone notice the UFO? ;-) )

Update

Good news: Organized Chaos will be back on the air TOMORROW!! That's right, I'll be back tomorrow on WRMC from 12:30-2 PM. Listen in on 91.1 FM in the Champlain valley, and on WRMC's website everywhere else. I've also created a Facebook group for fans, and to help promote the show. You can check it out here! If you're a fan, be sure to join! That's all for now, and I'd be glad to hear from you tomorrow!

YAY!!! I'M BACK!!!! (And at a new, better time!)

So after weeks of not having a show, I'm glad to say that WRMC has renewed Organized Chaos for the spring semester!! And guess what? The show has been moved to Thursdays, from 12:30 to 2 PM EST. Which means that you can be able to listen in without having to stay up ridiculously late! And I will be awake when I DJ and not jumble my words every other second! Very exciting news, folks.

As for when the show will start up again...this I haven't decided. It will either be this Thursday, 2/21, or next Thursday, 2/28, depending on when I get retrained to be a WRMC DJ. And since this is a new semester, there will be two things I will promise you:

1) Less show cancellations. It's in the early afternoon, when I'm not usually working and am more flexible with my schedule, so no longer will "I have too much work" be an excuse. This will definitely be what it was meant to be: a weekly event where you can hear the best experimental rock has to offer.

2) More posts on this blog. This will include music videos, even for bands I won't play on my show at all, and anything else I find interesting (which is quite a bit!).

So, in short: I'm back! And better than ever! And remember, if you have any questions, comments, concerns, or hate mail, here's how you can contact me:

E-mail: jhexter@middlebury.edu
Facebook: Right here!
Phone: When the show's on, feel free to call me in the studio! It's x6323 on campus, and (802) 443-6323 everywhere else.

And lest we forget WRMC's official website, the show's official webpage, and WRMC's blog!!!

So! I'm really excited for this new time, and I hope you are too! Take care, and I look forward to hearing from you on the first show of the semester!

Sorry guys...

...but it looks as if I'll have to forego tonight's show yet again; schoolwork does, after all, come first, and there's no way I can do it in the studio. I really hate having to do this, but nobody listens to the radio at 1:30 in the morning anyway, especially since most people have to wake up early tomorrow morning. I perfectly understand, guys. If and when I get a slightly better time starting in February, perhaps your weekly post-rock fix won't be so, well, not-as-weekly. I should probably stick to this, but this is college, after all. Hopefully I'll post something (anything, really) sometime this week, and there WILL be a show next week at the promised time. Sorry once again, and hope you guys have a good week!

Organized Chaos: So cool, it celebrates New Year's two weeks late.

Happy new year 2008, everyone! Hope the past few weeks without the show have been going well. Though I can only promise you it'll get better now that it's back!

Sorry for the belated post; life sometimes gets in the way of doing what you really want. Anyway, here's this week's playlist:

1. Dirty Three -- Hope
2. My Bloody Valentine -- Don't Ask Why
3. Phaser -- Life and Illusion
4. Fridge -- Semaphore
5. Maserati -- Show Me the Season
6. God Is an Astronaut -- From Dust To the Beyond
7. 65daysofstatic -- Drove Through Ghosts To Get Here
8. Laurie Anderson -- O Superman (For Massenet)
9. Autechre -- Rotar
10. Battles -- Atlas
11. LCD Soundsystem -- Someone Great
12. Talk Talk -- New Grass
13. Saxon Shore -- The Revolution Will Be Streaming

And as always, this week's iMix:

CORRECTION: I mentioned that the song "Don't Ask Why" by My Bloody Valentine was from their last EP, Tremolo, from 1991. In fact, it's from their second-to-last EP, 1990's Glider. Here's to getting music facts wrong. :-(

Anyway, the last part of the Dirty Three retrospective is on the YAM/Questionable Content blog; you can check it out here! Take care everyone, and see you next week!
